The Bilingual Curriculum

Our curriculum promotes bilingualism and biculturalism, equipping students with the skills to navigate both Portuguese and international contexts. This balance strengthens students’ ability to adapt, preparing them for future academic challenges.

From ages 6 to 15, students enjoy a bilingual education before progressing to the IGCSEs (1-year programme), then a smooth transition into a choice of the International Baccalaureate (IB), Diploma (DP) or Career-related programme (CP).

Seamless integration from the Prep School

The Bilingual Section is designed to complement the broader Prep School experience. We ensure students transition seamlessly into later stages of their education with a solid base in both languages and the wider curriculum.

Core subjects taught in both languages

Across the whole school, Art, Music, Physical Education (PE) and other core subjects are taught in Portuguese and English. So, expressing their creativity, staying active and engaging in community-building activities, in both languages, nurtures all areas of their development. Students develop excellent communication skills in both languages, while learning the same concepts.

Our integrated approach cultivates an international mindset and mutual understanding: key attributes for students in today’s world. Ultimately, our students progress to higher education at top universities in Portugal and internationally, or internships or straight into employment.
