Our Bilingual assessment structure is aligned with the Portuguese Curriculum, ensuring that students are prepared for both national and international educational pathways.
The assessment process is comprehensive, focusing on each student’s academic progress and their overall development, including social and emotional growth. With this holistic approach, each student receives the precise support they need to succeed.

Continuous informal assessments
Throughout the year, regular assessments are carried out by monitoring assignments, projects and class participation. Teachers assess each student’s progress, provide timely targeted feedback and adjust learning strategies as necessary to ensure their success. Study sessions and other support ensures that students are ready for exams and equipped with skills to confidently approach future academic challenges.

Official exams
In line with the Portuguese system, students sit official exams at the end of each ciclo (key stage) to assess their knowledge in core subjects. At the end of 9º ano (equivalent to year 10) these exams play a crucial role in ensuring students meet the standards for progressing in their education. Students can choose to transition into the St. Julian’s International Baccalaureate (IB) programme (Diploma Programme or Careers-related Programme) or continue their education in a Portuguese school.
These all prepare students for further studies in Portugal and abroad.
