This Monday students in KS1 had a different kind of assembly. Following on from Miss Heath’s assembly the previous week about World Book Day, students from the Years 6 and 7 Drama club brought some well known traditional tales to life, much to the enjoyment of the younger children.
The Drama students had been challenged to create a short performance of a tale of their choice. It could last no more than 5 minutes, had to have an integrated narrator, minimal costume and props, be performed in any classroom or space and use language and action that could be easily understood and appreciated by an audience of young children who may not have English as their first language. The various groups outdid themselves, captured the audience’s attention and elicited laughs, boos, ahhs and cheers in all the right places.
The KS1 students were really inspired by seeing their older peers in action. Well done, Drama club!
